Why 318?

Maddie + Max story revolves around Excelsior, so I am thrilled that Excelsior’s very own 318 Café has offered to host my book launch party on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. If you don’t already know about the 318 Café, it’s Minnesota’s premier, intimate live music “listening room”. For the last 20 years, musicians have come from all around to share their talents. Some artists you may recognize include the Jay Hawks, Keri Noble, Martin Zellar, members of Soul Asylum, Tim Mahoney, and GB Leighton. It’s a very unique space with delicious food.

I think the café is especially fitting for the book launch, not just because it’s in Excelsior, but because the book references seventeen different songs that were popular in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Music is a big part of the book. Yes, I made a playlist (or two, ok – three). We’ll be playing those, along with other great hits from the 90’s.

What to Expect

The café provides an intimate setting with only 60 seats nestled up to the stage. We’ll do a few readings from the stage and also provide some throwback photo opportunities. And if you know me, you know I love a good theme party so expect other nods to the 90’s throughout the night. I encourage you to come dressed in your favorite 90’s fashion if you feel inspired.

Support Local Business

318 Café is locally owned and operated and also supports other small business in Excelsior. So, please come hungry and order some tasty food, craft beer, or some delicious wine. Check out the menu here and the 318 Café story

Can’t make the party, order your copy of Maddie + Max at your favorite local bookstore. Excelsior’s bookstore is Excelsior Bay Bookstore, and you can contact them here.
