Rock On – Another Maddie + Max Playlist

When words can’t quite do it justice, sometimes a song says it better. Kids, especially teens, aren’t great at talking about their feelings let alone describing them. I know when I was a teen and I was upset, I’d go to my room and crank up my stereo. I had a mix of records, tapes, and CDs to select from to help me move through my mood. Whether it was Metallica when I was really mad or Beastie Boys when I was ready for some fun, there was always a band waiting for me.

As I put this Maddie + Max Teen Angst playlist together, I tried to capture that feeling of angst – the way it felt in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Listening to the music, made me realize what a pivotal time of music I grew up in. I was lucky enough to discover Guns N’ Roses in 1987, as I was first getting into my own music. I’d lug around my dual sided boom box blaring Appetite for Destruction (my poor parents). Who would have guessed a few short years later, I’d have a CD player and my first CD would be by Nirvana. What a shift in rock.

Heavy metal, hair bands, or alt rock – these were the songs of my youth. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do when you listen. Drop me a note if any of the songs spark a memory you forgot about or if you think I should add some songs. I added a few deep cuts I had forgotten about. Rock on!
